Redmond offers a unique blend of suburban amenities and rural escapes. Hiking and Equestrian Trails, the Redmond Watershed Preserve, and many other quiet parks and natural areas can be found within a short drive from the area’s neighborhoods and office parks.
Microsoft is still by far the main employer in the area, dominating all others. And Microsoft is a great benefactor to many neighborhood events and charities. Carefully maintained athletic fields and playgrounds are also numerous, with the vast Marymoor Park as the crown jewel, offering some of the best outdoor summer concerts in Eastern Washington.
Golf is also huge on the Eastside and Redmond is home to four of the area’s best professional-caliber courses, Willow’s Run Golf Complex, Redmond Ridge, Bear Creek Country Club and Sahalee Country Club, as well as the smaller private-community club at Brae Burn. Dozens of additional golf courses are located in the surrounding area.
Redmond is also famous for another popular recreational activity – shopping! Quaint stores line the streets of downtown and the Redmond Town Center offers a nice blend of restaurants, shopping, galleries, and live theater in a gorgeous outdoor setting, with many live events in the main courtyard.
