Pinehurst is part of the larger Northgate neighborhood. Situated north of the Northgate Mall and bordering the city of Shoreline, Pinehurst has a more suburban feel than most other Seattle neighborhoods. Most of the homes were built after the 1940’s, with sizable lots, driveways and garages.
The homes are generally modest, mid-sized and affordable. New townhomes and condos have been filling in some of the area and are also offered at lower prices than neighborhoods closer to downtown. However, easy access to express bus routes and freeways actually make this neighborhood very easy to commute from.
A Seattle public golf course, Jackson Park, occupies the northern section of the neighborhood, providing recreation, a restaurant, and a number of social and competitive club opportunities. Other community gathering spots include the Pinehurst Pocket Park, P-Patch, and Pinehurst Playfield, which is the site of an annual Pinehurst Neighborhood Appreciation Day meeting and picnic. Of course, there are also the requisite neighborhood coffee shops that dot all Seattle neighborhoods.
