Green Lake

Green Lake is one of Seattle's most cherished communities due in large part to its namesake park. With its sparkling blue water, walking paths, athletic facilities and wide open green space, the park draws many visitors daily from all over the city. Park activities include soccer, tennis, basketball, golf, running, skating, fishing, water sports and of course the always popular "dog and baby walk" around the three mile trail that circles the beautiful lake. The park not only provides plenty of activity choices, it is also home to a wide variety of trees, plants, songbirds, bats, waterfowl, and other wildlife with secluded spots to quietly observe and enjoy.

Surrounding all the lush greenery of the lake are Green Lake's fantastic homes. The turn-of-the-century homes are primarily three and four bedroom vintage Craftsmans and smaller Tudors. Newer single family homes, apartments and condos can also be found in varying styles and sizes. All told, Green Lake's neighborhood is actually fairly small with less than 4,000 households. Those lucky locals combine with the hundreds of daily visitors to support a large number of popular business surrounding the lake and lining Aurora Ave. Food and drink spots pop up just where you need them and if it's gear not fuel you need, the nationally recognized Gregg's Cycles is just one of many fine sports shops to chose from. A theatre, library, churches and schools round out the area's ammenities. Come on over and "do the lake" - you might never want to leave!
