As you go north on 35th Ave past the Wedgwood neighborhood, you gradually go downhill into Meadowbrook. To the east is the entrance into Alicia Park, a well-planned suburban development built in the 1970’s. These were larger homes and suited to families that needed affordable 3-5 bedroom homes. Meadowbrook is aptly named for the meadow that carries Thornton Creek to its final destination, Lake Washington.
One big draw to this community is the infamous Meadowbrook Community Center, and just next to it, the revitalized Nathan Hale High School. This school has become one of the best public high schools in the Seattle Public School network. While Meadowbrook is generally quiet, it has the advance of convenience to downtown via Lake City Way, as well as the proximity to Lake Washington at Matthews Beach Park, just to the east.
